DIY Nail Polish Round Two!

So, I wanted to use the fake Mac glitter pigment I bought on Ebay a couple of years ago (do NOT buy Mac off Ebay as 99 times out of 100 its fake!!!) and turn it into a nail polish.  It has bigger multicolour particles than the Bella Pierre glitter and I was really excited about trying out making my own polish again!

First, I took a clear polish.  I bought a Catrice quick dry and high shine topcoat as it had a couple of the little silver balls which would make it easier to mix up when shaking! It was €2.99 for 10ml so more or less the same price as the Essence polish.  I have no idea why the photo is sideways but you get the idea!!
Then I took my Mac glitter pigment ..... just look at the sparkles!!

Open the glitter and the polish, put a piece of paper down because there WILL be fallout!!

Using a piece of paper folded in half, pour some glitter into the bottle.  Add as much as you like but remember more glitter = more coverage in every swipe!

The glitter will fall to the bottom of the bottle.  Give it a good shake to wake it up!

Et voila! Your very own glitter polish!   I'm already thinking of my next one!

Now, you WILL need to give the glitter polish a good shake before you use it because the glitter will have settled at the bottom of the bottle but believe me, the sparkliness and glittertasticness (is that even a word??) is so lovely and will cheer you up on these dull days every time you look at your nails!  I'm gonna swatch this over some different colours to see what it works best on but I'm already thinking it would look fab over a black base! Woo hoo, fun times ahead!

My every day basket/makeup routine!

I thought I'd do a quick post on the makeup I use every day.  I generally leave a little basket on top of my train case and it has everything I need! I find it handy especially as I'm always in a hurry in the mornings trying to get everyone out the door on time! In the basket I have a little cup with my brushes in it, my CATRICE Concealer palette and CATRICE foundation (in the lightest shade of course! I'm super pale!) I use a CATRICE eyeshadow (now discontinued) to fill in my brows and lately I haven't bothered to wear eyeshadow during the week to save time, I usually just use the same shadow to do a quick line on my upper lid, stick on some eyeliner, mascara and blusher and off I go!
If I'm wearing eyeshadow I use my Too Faced shadow insurance or my Essence eyeshadow base.  At the minute I'm using Avon supershock gel eyeliner and I really love how black it is!  The mascara I'm using right now is Rimmel Scandaleyes and i have to say I'm not overly impressed with it but will keep using it til it runs out! I'm trying to avoid buying makeup at the minute!! I'm also using a CATRICE blusher (can you tell I love CATRICE?) And I really like the peachy pink colour of it, I find it gives me a healthy glow!
If its the weekend and I have some more time to get ready, I always pull out my Inglot palettes, I absolutely LOVE them!! I've posted about them several times in the past and am sure I will in the future too! I also love the Inglot Duraline which you can use to turn any eyeshadow into a liquid eyeliner! You just put a drop on the back of your hand, mix in some shadow and bobs your uncle, gorgeous long lasting eyeliner!
I hope you've enjoyed this post on my everyday makeup, please feel free to ask any questions!

Polish it behind the door!

I've become a bit of a nail polish addict lately!! I have read a few posts this week about a new Essence polish called Blue Addicted which is a good dupe for a Deborah Lippmann (Who I've honestly never heard of but I have read that the polishes are expensive so thats good enough for me!) polish.  I thought it looked lovely in the photos so I picked up a couple of bottles ( I may be doing a giveaway soon!!) and a few other bits and pieces! The Essence range is just soooo affordable that its hard to spend too much on it!  I have picked up 9 polishes this week and in total they cost me......... €10.74!  I read a blog post by the lovely Karen from Lovely Girly Bits and had to pick up the 2 golden nail polishes she recommended and you can see them in the nail pics I have posted!  I also spent ten minutes taking it back off an hour later after walking the dog because my hands were in bits from holding the lead!!  I then decided to re-do them with another 2 of my new Essence polishes and ended up with a lovely sparkly blue that looks so much better than in the photos! I really have to ask santa for a new camera, my one really doesn't take great photos!

I'm  also posting some photos of my makeup over the last week... I hope you like it!!

Todays makeup.... Catrice and Collection 2000 pinks!

I used this on my nails today and it actually works!!

I've used this the last couple of days and it seems to be really good!!

Sick baba!

I've had a sick little man the last couple of days so I had to miss my hospital appointment for my light treatment yesterday.  Ryan only wanted his mammy so I couldn't ask anyone to mind him when all he wanted was to snuggle up with me! I brought him to the doctor so he's got tonsilitis again the poor pet!  Hopefully he'll be back to himself in a few days time, I hate when the lads are sick, its awful and I wish I could be sick instead of them!

Aaron is settling back into school really well thank god, he doesn't mind going at all!  He's got a new teacher but most of his friends are still in his class so he's happy!

Its my mammy's birthday on Saturday so I have to make a cake on Friday for her but not sure what I'm making yet!  I picked up some new decorations in Tesco this morning, about bloody time they got some new stuff in!  G wants me to make a 'layer cake' for him, you know the ones with a pink, yellow and white (i think its called neopolitan, is it??!!) layer of cake so I may google a recipe because I don't know if the colour is just food colouring or an actual flavour!

Here's some photos of my makeup from the last couple of days, hope you like it!

My nail polish collection!

When I was in secondary school, I had a huge nail polish collection - I had about 40 bottles!! I didn't wear it for a good few years then because of work etc but have really gotten back into it lately and my collection is growing again!  I probably have about 40 now if not more!  I'm mainly buying Catrice and Essence lately, mainly because of the price of them compared to Rimmel, OPI or any others! The pictures I took aren't the best quality because I took them on my phone but here's most of my collection!  I have a few others that I haven't managed to take photos of yet! Catrice have some new polishes out so I've decided to buy myself one a week and at €2.79 each they won't break the bank!  Today I bought the gorgeous "Marilyn and Me" which is a gorgeous red with glitter particles in it!

Long time no blog!

Well, I haven't blogged in 3 weeks!  G was on his holidays from work for 2 weeks and although we didn't go away or anything, I just didn't seem to have any time to myself to do anything!  We went on plenty of walks and a load of us went up to the waterpark in Funtasia in Drogheda which was a great day (after all of my worrying about my skin, I didn't let it bother me once I got in there and was flying down the water slides like a looney!) and I'll do a separate blog on that at some stage!!  There was also 4 hospital trips in the 2 weeks for my PUVA and my skin is responding really well and I've even gone outdoors in a tshirt for the first time in over a year!  We went to Ikea one day after the hospital and it is HUGE!! Its actually a good job you pick up a map when you go in because you would easily get lost in there! We got a couple of bits but will definitely be going back again!  The food in the coffee shop was lovely and I was so hungry that I even ate the peas that you got with the fish and chips and I don't eat peas!
I done a lot of baking while G was at home, cookies, scones, coffee cakes and fairy cakes mostly! I had him spoiled really, didn't I!  Aaron went back to school yesterday morning and he couldn't wait to go so long may it last! He's in senior infants now and he's stretched up a couple of inches over the summer too!

So, I've been mostly using my Inglot palette every day with a bit of Catrice thrown in! Its my 31st birthday in a few weeks so I've asked G to buy me another Inglot palette so watch this space!!I haven't done my nails a lot lately because they've been very flaky and brittle! I have to start taking my vitamin tablets again and hopefully they'll start growing properly again soon for me because I miss my longer nails!
I had put a ban on myself buying makeup a while back and while I wanted to go a month without buying anything I ran out of mascara after 22 days and HAD to buy some!! But I'm proud of myself for going that long!  Some days I think I have too much makeup and then other days I think I haven't enough!
Catrice "Marilyn & Me"  A gorgeous red with glitter! Needed 3 coats but I love it!
